Kinja'd!!!

All three vehicles have battle scars from Seattle’s biggest storm in decades. Even the Subaru I sold to my neighbor didn’t escape unscathed. Nothing too terribad, although I should probably do something about the Miata fender...

Kinja'd!!!

The new V70 wagon is no longer straight :(

Kinja'd!!!

The 850 got a bruise in nearly the same spot

I’m not sure if I was lucky to avoid major damage, or unlucky to get minor damage on all vehicles. The two Volvos sat throughout the entire storm, and had a foot of snow covering them that I was hoping would offer some protection from falling branches. Bleh. So what would you guys do to keep the Miata fender from becoming more of an issue? And as for the Volvos.... Worth looking into getting those fixed? PDR maybe..?

PDR for the volvos shouldn’t run more than $150 for both. With the Miata fender people will say “sand and primer” but primer without a topcoat actually ABSORBS moisture and will make the underlying metal more likely to rust, so I’d pick up a cheap can of single-stage color match paint and just touch up the whole area. Lots of “rattlecan touch up” tutorial vids on YouTube.

Fo r the Miata - the easiest solution to damaged fenders is to remove the fenders. Saves weight, and adds Mad Max. Adding lightness is cool, bu t adding Mad Max is forever. Also Mad Max Miata is a cool title to have. So there's my vote - mad Max miata

I mean... I wouldn’t mind joi nin g the inner circle of Oppo exocet owners. I guess removing a fender is a good first step...

Yeah... Although I’m not too concerned with cosmetic things. It’s the potential mechanical failures and high-dollar repairs that wake me up at night in a cold sweat. These Volvos give me very real anxiety

Ouch. Happy that the two things I like were safely tucked away.

Oh... That might be what my lazy ass goes with.

I remember when I smashed a wheel in the snow last winter. I was super upset with myself. Now though... Eh. If this is what I have to pay to get a real winter storm, I'd gladly pay that cost every year. But the Miata has never been a beauty queen, and while I'd love a perfect, clean Volvo.... I don't think that will realistically happen with either of these. Maybe the next!

And yet I still f lew out to buy another one!

It’s a strange form of crazy.

Although a little voice in the back of my head is telling me to get out now, sell them both and buy a Ducati, or maybe a newish car with a warranty...

Just buy another fender for the miata, they are stupid easy to just replace. Given how common red is, it shouldnt be too hard to find one. I bought a fender for $25. Granted it was dented to hell but it was better than the one I had lol. Either way, an absolutely perfect one cant fetch more than $100 or so. That one looks pretty gone due to the rust.
